I’d like to go fairly cheaply, though I know the flight will be the biggest expense and it’s probably unavoidable to spend about £500 on it. But happy to stay in beach huts and eat from local food stalls!

I am from Bali, you will find many options to stay in whatever budget you have. There are plenty of food stalls that offer healthy food (some are spicy/lots of chili, be careful) ask locals about where to eat or find in the internet about Bali on a Shoestring. Do not forget to bring all the medication you need, especially for stomach problems. Buy bottles of water or bring your own water tablet (to purify the water). Good luck and enjoy, your money will go along way there.
The philippines like in bohol island or in cebu.
